Scalloped Potatoes with Ham
Ingredients
· 1 onion, chopped
· 1 clove garlic, minced 4 tablespoons butter
· 4 tablespoons flour
· ¼ to ½ teaspoon pepper
· ¼ teaspoon salt
· 2 ½ cups milk
· 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
· 2 pounds potatoes (about 6 medium?) Red potatoes are the best
· 2 cups ham, chopped and pre-cooked
Directions
Sauce:
1. Cook onion and garlic in butter until tender
2. Stir in flour, pepper and salt
3. Add milk all at once
4. Cook and stir over medium heat until thickened and bubbly
5. Add cheese, stir until it melts
6. Thinly slice the potatoes
7. Place half the sliced potatoes and half the ham in a greased casserole dish
8. Cover with half the sauce
9. Repeat potato and sauce layers
10. Bake, covered, in a 350 degree oven for 40 minutes.
11. Uncover and bake about 30 more minutes or until potatoes are tender.
